Hi, How are things? Between work and adventuring it's been a busy year so far! I have managed to write a bit of the Iceland adventure up in multiple post and answer some of the questions you have asked. Here is a list of the top blog post for February 2017 if you missed any. I'm not complaining though - I like adventure and It’s been a busy year so far, both for work and travel. The trip posts in Februarys were of course, relating to my trips to NYC and Iceland. Here are the top, most clicked post for February, encase you missed them. Iceland Answers This post was mostly answering the questions people asked me most often about Iceland. "How Cold is it?" "What the hell do you eat there?" Etc. Mostly it was silly shite like that, with 31 random pictures of stuff in Iceland. What Are you Reading? Guess what this post was about? lol This post contains 7 pictures of the illustrations from the Japanese art book I was reading and a little information about the films/TV shows being filmed in my area. #OnPoint I was surprised so many people clicked it. Or gave a flip about what I was reading, although I do get asked often "off line".... Top 25 Travel Quotes Another Guess what this post was covering? LOL These are some of my favorite and most used travel quotes. I feel they convey, way better than I ever could, the joy, mystery and love traveling is for me. Instagram Explained This was a random catch up to explain some of the craziness I have been posting on IG. Eight (8) random images and sort of an explanation. Scared of Solo Travel This was just a dumb meme/short post I wrote in January. It's popularity shows me you want more posts about solo travel, or my fears or something scary. I will endeavor to do all of the above shortly. The Week After Christmas Random post with 15 random pictures. I was wine shopping for a New Year's Eve party and bitching about the cold. #GoodTimes Thank you for taking the time to read my silly little blog. I hope you enjoyed these posts and found them helpful or at least funny! March promises to be an amazing month!
See you at the airport~ Another book came in the mail today. Who needs Christmas when you have Amazon, right? I'm asked so often, "What are you reading?" That I should feature it as a weekly blog post! (As if!) Honestly I've been really busy with work lately so I have been falling into bed like the dead, with no time to read. #WTF Sad, right? But when I do get a bit of a break I'm happily reading anything in my new stack. I don't have much time to read, but I can still order books, lol #TreasuresFromAmazon Currently I'm reading a wonderful book on Japanese Prints. Ms. Harris, as you may recall, wrote the novels the True Blood television saga was based on. I love her twist on southern life (and death) and her characters. Life in the South is very different and usually is portrayed rather lackluster, but her characters really jump off the page! This is her newest narrative taking place not in Louisiana, as the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries did, but in Texas. I heard a rumor that it is being filmed as a new mini series. I googled and look here - it's being filmed right up the street from me! Can't wait to see it. In the meantime the 3rd book (thats the 2nd book pictured) has just been released. Amazon is shipping it right now... The other book I'm reading is on Japanese Prints. It is a lovely illustrated book I am so glad to add to my collection. I have a good size assortment of art books, mostly the old masters and impressionist art with a few "art theory" books thrown in for good measure, lol. But sadly not much about Eastern Art, other than museum guides. So what are you reading? And how many books do you usually read at once?
I'm so swamped with work I will need another vacation soon, lol. I'm got a few short trips planned for March that I can't wait to share with you. In the meantime I'm gonna read and catch up on my sleep. See you at the airport- Hi,
How is it going? A couple of weekends ago I attended yet another summer party and that night as we were all sitting around the bonfire talking and laughing (and drinking) out of the blue one of our newest friends from Northern Cali made a comment about how often southern women say, "Bless their heart." She seemed confused about the phrase, never hearing it used in quite the way Southern women do. My British friends agreed. Us southern girls just giggled and the guys just shook their heads. We then took turns spouting southern wisdom, such as: "My boss is dumb as dirt, bless his heart" "My college roommate is as filthy as a pig, bless her heart." "Why the UPS man is as busy as a one armed paper hanger, bless his heart." "That coach is not the sharpest tool in the shed, bless his heart." "You must be as hungry as a grasshopper in the winter, bless your heart." You get the idea. In the south a LADY can say just about anything mean about someone and then end with "Bless their heart," flutter their eye lashes and pretend they meant no harm. And usually it works.. Thats another reason I like True Blood so much, its so TRUE to the southern dialect. I'm pretty sure all the women in that show have said "Bless their hearts" at least once & in the right contexts, that and all the sexy men. I like that part a lot too. Talk soon & Bless your heart- Hey, Hope your week is going well. I hosted "Girls Movie Night" last night and am moving rather slow today. This time we did actually turn on the TV! #Progress! No movies, but we did watch the BBC Sherlock season 3. It was awesome! One of the other girls hosts a Thursday Night Horror movie marathon, (this is what my friends are really like, lol) and we were discussing next movie night we will marathon True Blood season 1 and see how that works. She has some teens at her extravaganza and doesn't get to watch a lot of the more "adult" (read sexy/nude) horror stuff. Not that True Blood is all that scary, but it is a wonderful slice of small town southern life- with Vampires thrown in for good measure. #InMyOpinion Anyway, back to last night... As you may know from all my whining lately I have been working non stop. I did plan on cooking a lovely buffet dinner, complete with gourmet touches for the ladies. In my mind I envisioned a pretty themed table, fancy garnishes, fresh fruit in some crafted watermelon bowl and other homemade wonders. :o #Perfection for my best buds.. Then, as is often the case, reality sat in and I knew I was screwed. I didn't have time to go to the market & since Rick had just blown in & then zipped out, THERE WAS NO FOOD IN THE HOUSE! :O So what does a smart, career woman do? She has the bloody thing catered! Oo la lal #FancySmancy MM, NO. I went with a sensible sandwich tray from Schlotzskys. One lady brought cupcakes (from Sam's) and another brought cake. So we had plenty of food! They were all happy to eat sandwiches and even looked at one of my work projects. (In my attempt to explain why I have been MIA & so lame lately. #FML) We watched Sherlock and visited and ate some more and laughed and ate some more. lol Sandwich tray (plus bottle of hot sauce, lol) to feed 5 was $26. + tax approx $30.USD. So it was a great price and for good, fresh sandwiches. (Not to mention more healthy than Pizza.)
#ImSoSmart :D They didn't leave until 4:00 a.m. (OH MY GOD!) so I guess they had fun? I'm headed home now for a nap. Catch you later- Ok, so we ended up ordering Mexican food and staying in most of this weekend. I am still trying to catch up on work and it's a bitch. What can I say? My To Do List is very Long- but- it wasn't all bad. :D I did manage to watch a little True Blood, (with the rest of the world), or so Get Glue tells me. Follow me on Get Glue if you want, but I'm not one to watch TV so I sux at this. :X (It shows I last checked in 15 days ago. That was probably the last time I watched TV, really.) So as I ate Mexican Food and watched Vampires with my honey & worked over my virus ridden Toshiba. It was starting OK, then would freeze up within 3 mints and refuse to do anything other than lock up. So After reading on line and trying both things I could think of (thats a joke) I was armed with restore disks. WHICH SUDDENLY WENT MISSING! All I could find were old Dell XP restore disks. (??) And there is much debate on if they would even work... So I read every tech broad I could find. (From the working MAC, thanks) And found a "Binary” shortcut. It was reported to restore the Toshiba back to factory/out of the box condition with no disks needed. WTF?? The few people who had used this short cut said it worked, so I thought what the hell, the computer has been an expensive paper weight for the last few months anyway... And Guess what? IT WORKED! See? Now it wiped it clean, I lost everything (But I had backed up on the passport of course). So this was ok. It rebooted and installed all the plug ins and was working again! I virus scanned and now am Deliriously Happy That it is working again. ;D The short cut (and I don't know if it will work on any other computer) was as follows: Turn computer off Press the power button and hold down for 10 seconds Press the 0 key (yes, really) and hold down Follow the instructions and prompts to restore your computer. Now I have only 2 icons, lol But I restored from my passport drive and viola - Working system again!
Please note, I am not a geek tech person, I like technology (as long as it works) but if I can do this so can you...Fix it before you junk it or get ripped off paying $100+ for a f'ing button push. So anyway, thats how I spent most of my weekend. Next post should be about shoes or clothes or Spain or something more fun, huh? Take care! I don’t watch a lot of TV. Ok let me be honest I watch like NO TV. When I rent in France, the first thing they always say is, “You know about French tv, yes?” “Yes,” I reply and we finish each other’s sentence with “it’s unreliable” But who in the bloody HELL goes to France to watch TV? Anyway, it is never a problem, but back in Texas when it’s a smoldering 105’ outside a little TV is nice, lol.
So one of my buddies told me about True Blood on HBO. I was like, “um what?” Another Vampire show? Set in Louisiana too? Been there, done that. And with the Queen of Vamps, Ms Ann Rice, thank you very much! *Read her books NOW if you have not. Twilight my ass, don’t even. Anyway, it went something like this: Buddie: “No, No you gotta watch this.” Me: “Hmm, Why?” Buddie: “Lots of hot guys…lots and good story too. Good acting” Ok, that was the right combination to get my attention. + I was bored. She brings over her Blue Ray set season 1 & I watched the pilot. I was hooked! OMG! Shortly after I bought my own set, LOL and not just for the Hot Men, which they DO HAVE, by the way.. I bought the series because it is set in rural Louisiana, which is a lot like most towns in the South, mine included. The dialogue is funny and smart & right on the money. The writers, or at least 1 -spent time (or grew up, am guessing) in the south. Because you have to BE here to understand the way things work, its really not something that is even explainable to someone else. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Yankee friends, but do tire of everything being set up North, with Northern problems. Says the woman who watches no tv. Everything could be set in the South now, for all I know. It’s not, right? Anyway, True Blood is based on books written by Charlaine Harris. (Whom did/does live in the South.) I have started reading the books too, because I am waiting for the next season to come out on HBO. -June 16, 2013 according to the HBO website. So anyway, what do you think? Anyone else watch True Blood? Or have another show to recommend while we are waiting? |
